“Liberty and Justice for ALL”…unless you are gay.

Liberty and Justice…or the lack thereof is nothing new to this country.

The first folly was African Americans and Women. They fought for the longest times for their rights, for women to vote and for African Americans; to carry on a life that resembles the white American. It was, in the end ruled that denying these citizens civil rights and the such, to be unconstitutional, so why is it different now a days if you are a homosexual?

I do not need to go into the history of the movement, I want to elaborate more on it’s current state.

Who is any single citizen or group of citizens, who have the rights of marriage and the benefits that come along with it, to deny another citizen these same rights and benefits?

Some of the arguments used against Gay Marriage are random quotes from the Bible. My gripe is that, the Bible is not written by God, but by man himself. I see the Bible as a collection of stories written by man to convey a message that they believe God would want; a message of peace and love. But it’s exactly the opposite of that message that people who use the argument actually utilize.

We as American citizens have NO right to deny other citizens the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Another of my arguments, how will a gay union effect your every day life? Will it actually interrupt anything you do on a day to day basis? Of course it wont, it’s ridiculous to believe it would. I am also fairly confident that it would not mentally eat away at you to the point that you could not perform your every day tasks.

In recent news, a 10 year old boy has been refusing to pledge his allegiance in school because he recognizes that homosexuals are not guaranteed the same rights as other American citizens. I would like to take the time to offer my full respect to this kid. It takes alot of fortitude to do this, especially at such a young age. To not stand and pledge your allegiance to your own country in front of all of your classmates and then to have the sit in substitute teacher ask you to rise and then after you respectfully deny to, that said teacher to become angered with you. This kid takes constant every day harassment from his peers who have called him the likes of “gaywad” on top of other names, no doubt. I would like to thank Will Phillips for standing up for the rights of American citizens, be they, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Thank you William Phillips and for your service to this country.
Continue your activism, continue your Television appearances, get the message out. Hopefully one day EVERYONE in American can actually have both Liberty and Justice.
